Keeping Warm and Chilling Out.
We have been thinking about how to stay warm and how to cool down.
To stay warm you can use a fire or a hot water bottle. You can wear lots of clothes like hats, scarves and gloves. You can tuck things in and fasten things up. These stop the air near your body from escaping. Fleecy, woolly things trap air between their fibres. Lots of layers are good to trap more air between them.
Animals and birds keep warm with fur and feathers that trap air. Penguins, whales and seals have a thick layer of fat or blubber to insulate them.
Cooling down is a different matter, one thin layer and fans help the hot air to escape and move. Eating something cold helps too!
How do you stay warm or cool down?
